About us - how our story began

We’re a small family-owned business based in Christchurch, New Zealand, and our story is pretty down-to-earth.

It all started when Alex bought a cheek riser and accidentally broke it while installing it. Not wanting to give up on what was quite an expensive bit of gear, and being an engineer with a solid Archicad background, he thought, “Why not use my 3D printing hobby to make something even better?” So he did.

That first project turned out great, and before long, he was designing and printing other hunting and shooting accessories too.

Hunting has always been a real passion for us. Most of our trips take place in the Canterbury plains around Christchurch, which is where the name of our business comes from. The rugged rivers, hills, and mountains in our backyard inspire us to keep exploring—and to keep creating simple, lightweight, and practical gear that makes those trips easier.

Our hunts usually mean heading into the wilderness on foot, often walking 10 km or more from the point where we’ve parked, crossing fast-flowing streams and creeks, climbing hills, and setting up camp in the bush. When the trip is over, we hike all the way back carrying our camping gear plus, if we’re lucky, a trophy deer tightly packed into our packs.

That’s why lightweight gear that actually works matters so much to us. Every item we make is tested and refined on these trips because we use—and genuinely rely on—them ourselves.

Thanks so much for supporting our small business. We hope our gear helps you enjoy your hunting adventures as much as we enjoy ours!

With love,

Alex and Lana
